Big Box, Little Box: Styling Matching Prints

Have a think for me... What's your favourite print? Would you wear it head to toe? If the answer is yes; you might love this outfit and if the answer is no; this outfit might help to inspire you to think differently.

I used to wear prints all the time but in the last year I have definitely opted for plain fabrics over printed ones. I still love and admire them but I have to LOVE a print if it's going to make it onto my body.

As you can tell from one of my previous posts - 'Printed Co-Ords for the Win', when I do wear prints; they tend to be in your face and bold! Another way I like to style print is by wearing the same print, head toe but in slightly different ways.

I spotted this oversize jumpsuit online [on sale now!] and was attracted to it because of it's simplicity. I am really enjoying fuss free dressing at the moment and who doesn't like wearing something that resembles a onesie?! I love loungewear and with the amount of options on the market now; you can definitely get away with wearing it out and about. Comfort is key!

When wearing the same print head to toe, there are a few things you might like to think about before taking the matchy matchy plunge.

Here are a few tips you might like to try:

1. Pick one dominate print and one accent print

2. Scale is important. Switch it up and wear big, medium and small scale prints together.

3. Same print but in different fabric qualities works really well.

4. Invert the colours. Same print inverted looks so cool!

How To wear double Denim Like a Pro

The key to making a double or even triple denim outfit look good, is to layer with confidence! It might seem daunting to wear more than one piece of denim in an outfit but combining different denims together is one of the easiest ways to look stylish and well put together.

In my opinion, the more denim the better. We've been taught over the years that wearing double denim is a crime against fashion; but in reality it can look pretty darn amazing.

Here's my top tips for layering denim like a pro:

1. Layer using different shades of denim - The easiest way to wear double denim is to play with the different shades out there. You can find denim in every colour under the sun now a days and this makes building a double denim look; very easy. Try stone wash and dark blue or even chambray and dark grey.

2. Break the denim up - Scared to go full on denim aka Britney and Justin? Try building up an outfit like I have with other colours and fabric types. This will break the denim up and water it down slightly. This is a great way to wear double denim if you're a beginner!

3. Mix it up - Just like tip #1, a simple way to wear double denim is to play around with fabric types and textures. Wear a heavily distressed pair of jeans with a clean cut chambray shirt or a lightweight pair of culottes and a heavy denim coat.

4. Dress it up - Double denim can be perfect for evenings out. Add killer heels, a statement coat and a generous slick of lippy and you're good to go!

5. Combine vintage and highstreet - The denim gems you find in vintage shops/charity shops can be insane! Hunt for one off, customised pieces and pair them with more basic options from the highstreet.

Printed Co-Ords for the win.

Sometimes you spot things online/in store and you just fall in love instantly. This is what happened when I saw this printed co-ord. It's in your face, you'll definitely see me coming and you all know that's the sort of thing that makes me tick! Why hide away just because you happen to be fat?

I love buying a two piece like this because there's scope for building multiple outfits with each of the items. I originally tried the bomber on with my fave green maxi skirt, loved it and I've since tried the trousers with a roll neck and I'm also a fan. I'm sure you'll see me wearing these pieces a lot on my various social media platforms.

With regards to size, I bought the 22 in the trousers and a 20 in the bomber and the only grumble I have about this set is that neither the top or bottoms have pockets... wahhhhh why oh why wouldn't you give us pockets?!

A quick note about my lipstick. I have legit become obsessed with Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks and tend to wear the mauve shade 'Baci' everyday. For this look I mixed a dark red called 'Rubino' with the lighter shade and it made this glorious colour which matches my co-ord perfectly in my opinion!

What do you think about printed co-ords like this? Are you fan or will you be giving them a miss?

2017, Let's Go...at your own pace.

Well here we are ladies and gents. It's 2017 and we've all been waiting for it with baited breath. How do we feel... excited? Ready and raring to go? Or are you scared of whats to come and you're still glued to the sofa?

I've had a very slow start and I think it's due to the fact I'm 30 and can't party like I used to haha. A hangover really affects me now a days and seeing as I went for it on NYE; I've been struggling ever since. I'm half ready and raring to go and half scared to venture outside and face real life.

I keep reading all these positive, life affirming blog posts and I've bought the life planners and new stationary for all those lists I should be writing but I'm not quite ready yet. That's ok right? I've got another 350+ days ahead of me and I know once I get my ass into gear; it's on!

If you're feeling like me and you're not quite there yet; it's ok. Take your time and don't beat yourself up about the fact you haven't got your shit together, you're still in the same pants as you were wearing on NYE and that new 'To Do' pad is still empty. We all go through life at a different pace and even if it feels like everyone around you is speeding off and already achieving great things; just know there are others around you *like me* that need a little more time.

We'll get there and it'll be beautiful. Hey, it can't be any worse than 2016!

Here's a cute outfit I shot just before Christmas but true to form; I've only just gotten around to posting it!
