ASOS Curve | Savvy Sale Shopping

ASOS are having a major sale at the moment and I thought I'd take the hard work out of sale shopping for you; by choosing my top sale picks.

Here's how you can shop in a savvy way and pick up some amazing items, many of which will see you through to summer. (Remember summer? When it's warm and the sun actually appears?)

- My top tips for sale shopping -

  • There are some great summer maxi dresses available, like this strappy dress which would look amazing worn whilst it's cold; with a roll neck worn underneath and a leather jacket on top. Come summer, you'll be able to wear it on the beach with sandals!
  • Choose classic items that won't go out of trend. Every wardrobe needs a LBD and a denim jacket so why not stock up when the prices are so reasonable? I love this sleeveless drape front dress and this cute denim jacket.
  • Heading to a wedding in the summer? Why not snap up a wedding appropriate dress whilst the prices are so good? I LOVE this pleated dress that I wore last year to a wedding and this floral print scuba dress
  • Buying work wear is never fun but it has to be done. I recommend grabbing some work appropriate tops from the sale as they are so versatile and you can never have too many tops right? I love this classic white shirt and this belted tunic with suede pockets

Oops look what's fallen into my basket...

Build a look | Western

I thought I'd start a little series here on the blog called 'Build a Look'. I want to take one plus size garment, build an entire look around this item and show you how you can easily take on the latest or emerging trends.

This week I wanted to start with a trend that has trickled down to the high street after being heavily featured on the catwalks. The 'Western' trend focuses heavily on denim, suede and fringing. I must admit, much like the 70's trend I wasn't a fan at first but the more I see this trend; the more I like it.

I took one long sleeve denim dress and went accessory mad when building this look! I think the cape draped over the shoulders and secured with the belt (on the outside) would look so cute. You could brave the cold weather and go 'tight free' or you could easily wear this look with a lovely thick pair of 200 Denier tights. The cute suede booties are wide fit and I love the light stone colour. Finish off the look with your tassel bag and tassel earrings and you're ready to ride off into the sun set!

Would you take on this trend and what do you think of the look that I've put together?

A little rusty

This autumn/winter I have lived in pinafore dresses and have acquired quite a collection! I tend to wear them with a breton stripe and chunky boots but when I spotted this beautiful printed shirt I knew it would work well with my rust coloured suede pinafore dress.

I really enjoyed building this outfit; the colour palette screams autumn and it was nice to play around with so many different prints and fabric types. I rediscovered my old H&M coat which I originally bought for LFW last year and it's not been of my back since. I went a little mad on the Zara sale just after Christmas so unfortunately the feather cuffs, necklace and bag aren't on the website any more; but check your local store for sale items as they still have lots of reduced pieces hanging around.

My January Beauty Wishlist

As I mentioned in my previous post; I have spent a lot of November, December and so far, all of January cooped up in my house. One week into 2016 and I am starting to get itchy feet and I am looking forward to venturing out. I have only added a few things into my diary and plan on keeping January pretty free but one thing that I want to do this month is stock up on some new beauty treats.

Well, if I'm going to be out and about I'll need a fresh face and a glossy head of hair won't I?!

Click the product you like the look of and it'll take you directly to the correct shop!

                                                                                                     Happy Shopping!

1. Nexus Youth Renewal Masque - This conditioner promises to give lacklustre hair a boost whilst adding volume and shine. Just what I need now that I dye my hair so often!

2. Green and Spring Indulgent Light Bath Oil - Bath times have become a new friend of mine. They are so good for tired muscles and for a bit of 'me time' and I'm loving the look of these beautiful oils!

3. NATURA BISSE Essential Shock Intense Mask - I've seen lots of people talking about this mask and I am so ready to try it! I can't think of anything nicer than having a bath with a face mask on and sipping on a glass of wine! This mask is meant to perk you right up and give you a full on hydration boost to even the dullest face.

4. Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate - The day time version of the much coveted Midnight Recovery and promises to make you 'look more radiant and youthfully awakened in the day'. Sign me up... I definitely need this after all the Christmas boozing!

5. NARS Blush in 'Unlawful' - This blush looks so, so nice. I am enjoying the minimal look at the moment with light blushes and nude lips and I think this blusher would be the perfect way to add a flush of colour to my cheeks.

6. Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Nude Lipstick in '42' - Continuing with my love of the minimal look; I am loving the look of this peachy nude. Kimmel Lipsticks are such good value for money and I love how they apply/wear.

7. Paul & Jo Limited Edition Nail Polish - What a gorgeous bottle!! I live in black nail varnish all year round and I need to get my mitts on this Paul & Jo beauty!

Have you tried any of these products? I love it when you guys give me recommendations and reviews!

Easing into 2016 & Coping with a Chronic Pain Condition

It's been rather slow over here on the blog and it's been rather slow in my life in general. Last November and December I was trying to cope with my Fibromyalgia and my CFS as well as being in and out of hospital for an unknown illness (which is still sadly ongoing).

I was tired and I still am tired. Always so so tired, always in pain and always one second away from snapping at the person/people closest to me. I had all these festive plans in the diary and week by week I had to cancel them, flake out on friends and the sofa became my best friend.

When you suffer with something like an invisible illness you have to put every ounce of energy you have into sometimes simply getting up, putting your face on, making a cup of tea or leaving the house. Some days even the simplest of tasks seem like the biggest of hurdles.

I have a fashion blog and I am very appreciative of the large social media following I have accumulated over the years; with that comes quite a lot of pressure though. People turn to you to give them advice, inspiration, hope 24/7; but what happens when you lack all of those things and you're at home rotating the same 4 outfits as your lust for everything has totally disappeared?

The key is to take that time out, enjoy that time out (where possible), enjoy that period of self-care and reboot. It's easier said than done but it is so important that you don't beat yourself up for staying in, staying as comfortable as you can, cancelling on friends/family and looking after number one.
I always get FOMO (fear of missing out) and hate missing fun things BUT you'll be able to attend other things in the future, more events will happen and the most important thing to remember is that the ones who love you, truly care for you and the ones that matter won't disappear.

I took time out, ignored my inbox and carefully selected things/events I felt I could comfortably attend. I also gained a boyfriend and this actually made all of the staying in...that little bit nicer!

My love of fashion drifted towards the end of last year but I've slowly started to get excited about emerging trends, building my spring wardrobe and experimenting more with vintage fashion. I'm glad the racks of sale items are slowly beginning to fill with new and exciting clothes! I am still firmly attached to the sofa but I'm slowly adding in things to my diary and summoning up the courage to venture out a little more. I'm shooting a lovely little outfit on Friday (all going well) so I'm excited to write that post up and show that to you all.

I hope that if you're sat there reading this and you suffer with a chronic illness; that you remember that you don't need to impress anyone, you can stay home if you need to and hold on to the fact there'll be better, warmer days to come.
