June wish list

In the first few weeks of moving back to London I gave online browsing a break for a while. I was just too busy but in the last week or so I have been back to my usual antics and I've been trawling all my favourite sites.

Just a quick post today to show you all the things I have my eye on. I'm big on midi skirts at the moment, they are great for those of you who want to brave getting their legs out this summer but don't want to flash too much flesh. I am also obsessed with printed jackets, stylish basics and palm leaf prints. All direct links to items are below. Enjoy x
1 - Tropical crop top
2 - Floral Snake blazer
3 - Mesh trimmed bodycon
4 - Elephant blazer
5 - Pephem skirt
6 - Mint scuba midi skirt
7 - Acid wash denim dress
8 - Floral scuba midi skirt

Print clash to the max!

Now it's very clear to see that I do not like to blend in to the background and I love my clothes/makeup to make me stand out. What better way to do that then wearing in your face, clashing prints?

I was very kindly sent some goodies from New Look Inspire to try and the item that jumped out at me from the package was this ace shift dress. It's so bright, the print is all jazzy and I like the simple no frills cut of the dress. The back is cut slightly longer so you don't flash your bottom to everyone and even though it is a short style, with leggings it is totally fine. I am a short lass though so keep that in mind if you are tall. If you like this tunic, you can buy it here.

I spent the day shopping with my Mum a few months back and we popped into Monki. I adore this brand. I first shopped in there whilst I lived in Stockholm and I would spend my monthly salary in there pretty much every month. I'm surprised that since it's moved to London I haven't shopped in there more to be honest. It isn't a plus size store BUT they often have over sized styles in there and there jackets/coats can be very generous. I picked up this very reasonably priced bomber jacket and a super bright chartreuse cardigan which I have yet to blog about. The site doesn't do that cardy justice... the colour is SO BRIGHT!

I've always loved a bomber as I get too hot in big coats and sometimes you want a more edgy vibe to an outfit than you get wearing a cardigan (no offence to cardigan wearers, I love them as well)

I finished the outfit off with some more colour just to calm things down (jokes) The earrings are new from River Island and available here but the bag is an old Topshop purchase from last year and the shoes are old New Look ones. My lippy is 'La Diva' from Chanel, you know the same one I seem to wear every other day! The sunnies were a freebie that I got in my Boohoo AW14 press day goodie bag! Lovely jubbly!

Have an excellent weekend guys, I will be spending it with friends, drinking and eating cake at my friends birthday party and doing some styling work.

Collect+ now at Westfield, London.

When you shop online it's really simple and it gets delivered to your door but you miss out on the fact you don't get to try the items on in the actual shop and what if they don't fit? You have to package it all up again, find your parcel tape, fill out the returns form, take it to the post office etc etc.

Luckily there are a growing amount of shops online that us plus size ladies can shop from like ASOS, Very and New Look Inspire and at Westfield, Shepherds Bush you can order clothes from these stores (and many more like River Island, George at Asda, Dorothy Perkins) and get them delivered to their new Collect+ Lounge. The lounge offers you the chance to try on your items in one of their changing rooms and if you aren't happy with what you have ordered, the staff will help you return them.

Westfield kindly invited me and a group of other blogger babes the chance to try this new service out. It was such a nice day because instead of getting all my orders delivered to my house and trying on the clothes on my own, I was in great company and we all enjoyed showing each other what we had ordered and flouncing round the changing rooms in our new clothes! They offer you complimentary drinks, I wasn't going to turn down the chance to have a free drink so I ordered a beer - I don't even drink beer! (Non alcoholic drinks are also available btw)

Here are some shots from the day:

This is what I decided to wear for the day - Jacket from Look Magazine for SimplyBe, Dress from George at Asda, old Necklace from Galibardy, old Ring from Topshop
Lauren waiting patiently at the reception desk of the Collect Plus Lounge
A little look inside the lounge
Me, Lauren, Emma and Elena taking a seat before the mass trying on session

Elena and I sitting again (we are very good at sitting down) inside the lounge

I ordered the green dress from Very and I love it and I also am very happy with this ASOS midi skirt! I was a very happy shopper indeed! Outfit posts featuring both items will follow in the next few weeks I am sure.

You can read all about the collect plus service here and don't forget you can pop into Evans and New Look whilst you are in Westfield as well.

After we had finished in the lounge a group of us headed into the shopping centre for some complimentary cocktails at Searcys and the most almighty feast at Shawa. Both the drinks and food were innnnncredible!!!!

I just had a gingham-gasm.

Now Matalan has been around for yonks and it is somewhere where I have found some great pieces just on the off chance when I have popped into a store or had a look online. It has a plus size range, which has recently had a facelift but I actually haven't ever bought anything from that range.

This amazing skirt is from their main range and it goes up to a size 20. I am wearing the 20 and I would have actually preferred the 18 as this size is a little too baggy for me on my waist, apart from that the fit is great. This is good news for you ladies who are a 22 who might fancy giving this gem a try. At £18 you can't go wrong. The look, quality, fabric, mesh panel, fit, colour and shape ALL get an A* from me. They now have this skirt in a plain white and pink with mesh panels so go take a peek if they sound like something you'd wear.

I chose to style the skirt with a jumper and shirt as I was actually inspired by how they advertised it on their site. The model is wearing a slouchy grey jumper and a long sleeved white shirt, which hangs out underneath the bottom of the jumper. I have had this skirt hanging in my wardrobe for months and was constantly debating how to style it but I am so glad the picture of their model caught my eye.

The jumper is a really old New Look jumper and the white shirt I am wearing was gifted to me by New Look Inspire recently. I have worn that shirt to death - I love it. The necklace is a recent purchase from Topshop, well my Mum actually bought it for me for a birthday present and the boots are also from Topshop available here. The clutch is an old New Look sale jobby. The grey lippy I am wearing is one of my new spring faves, it's from Kiko and it's such a different colour to my more "normal" shades.

I'm glad I waited with this skirt and found an outfit I really love and didn't just rush to put it on my blog. Sometimes you buy something and you instantly know how you'll style it but with this piece it took me a while but what do you think? Is this a combo you would wear together?

Scarlett and Jo photo shoot.

A few months back I had the pleasure of joining Hanna, George, Callie and two models called Rebecca and Sophia, on a photo shoot with Scarlett and Jo, a plus size brand I have mentioned a few times here on this blog.

The lovely Scarlett and Jo team wanted to shoot us ladies wearing garments from their Spring Romance Collection as well as their recently launched Summer Romance Collection. Both collections offer an array of beautiful vintage inspired dresses, focusing on beautiful prints and garments that are cut to fit the fuller figure. Great fitting dresses is something that this brand do really well. I am always my usual size and they perfectly fit my figure.

Our hair and makeup were done and we were able to try on the dresses we had perviously picked to wear. The great thing about this shoot was that we were able to style ourselves. This means we could pick how we wanted to look and personally add our own special touches. I came with a suitcase of bits so I was well stocked!

For my first look I wore the 2 in 1 Floral Prom Dress that I have previously blogged about here. I adore this dress. I love the casual mix of jersey and the more formal bottom half. The elasticated band in the middle really nips you in and showed off my figure really well.

Papped with fellow blogger Hanna
I chose to dress this look down by wearing my rose gold brogues (old New Look) which you sadly cant see in these pics and my very spangly Galibardy necklace which is still online if you fancy buying one for yourself. I am a little annoyed at myself for wearing leggings with this dress. I wish I had got my pins out like I did in the next look.

The second outfit I wore was this Floral Print Prom Dress from their newest Summer Romance Collection. This dress is super girly and I wanted to style it with leather to give it a more edgy, casual feel. The mesh on the top half is so lovely and is a beautiful contrast to the heavily printed dress. The fit, as with all of the Scarlett and Jo pieces I have tried was spot on. I styled it with my fave faux leather jacket (old F+F Clothing) and my high heeled chunky boots from TKMaxx. I accessorised with an old black and gold bangle of mine and a lovely gold clutch bag from Evans.

This was definitely my favourite look out of them both and I really like how these pictures came out. Very proud of myself for strutting my stuff on the roads of London in front of ogling passersby.

Here's a final shot of all four bloggers. Love that I enjoy these girls company and I get to do such fun things with them all!

Both dresses I wore are now available online here and come in sizes 14-32.

I hope you love the snaps as much as I do, Thank you Scarlett and Jo for a wonderful day!

A wee roundup of my week.

I seem to be doing an awful lot at the moment (I'm not complaining) but I need to get back into posting regularly as I've definitely been neglecting it. I always find time to get dressed up in nice outfits but now I don't have my Mum living with me (who used to take my outfit pics for me) I'm trying to get into the swing of asking my friends/housemate to take them for me when ever I am out and about with them. I think I need to invest in a tripod and take my own pics... is this something any of you other bloggers do?

Anyway, I thought I'd do a little post to show you all what I've been up to this week. I've had lots to smile about, caught up with lots of friends and done some lovely things so here goes!

On Monday, myself and a few other bloggers went to Westfield shopping centre for a day of trying on clothes in their new Collect+ Lounge, drinking cocktails and eating fabulous food. I will post about this at a later date as it was a brilliant day. But here's a little shot of me and some of the other blogger gals that joined me on the day.

Myself, Lauren, Emma and Elena
The beautiful Elena and I went for a drink before heading back to mine and we enjoyed a night in front of the telly eating frozen yogurt and I played with my new goodies that I treated myself to.

One happy lady with her Lemon Spritz
New Chanel lippy in 'La Favourite' and big flower earrings from River Island
On Tuesday before Elena got the train home we had a nice brekky and then I spent the entire day on the sofa watching Scandal and it was bliss.

It started off being a healthy smoothie but then we added croissants...oops!
On Wednesday I took the plunge and went to the hairdressers to have all (well a lot of) my hair cut off. the lengths had become dry and brittle and it was time for it to go. I went to Jones and Paynes in Shoreditch and my friend Craig did the chop! It is such a lovely little salon, it's won numerous awards and they treat you really well there. I was given cocktails and popcorn and the massage chair you sit in whilst having your hair washed was bliss! You've probably seen my new hair pics alllll over my Instagram and twitter but here is how my hair turned out. I LOVE it. I wasn't sure at first, I kept feeling like my security blanket had been taken away but I've gotten used to it now and I'm so happy with it. It feels so nice and thick and healthy!

In the evening my friend Cat came over for a Chinese takeaway and it was good to see her as I'd not seen her since moving back to London. I wore my new midi skirt from ASOS Curve and an old Primark crop top and I felt super cute. The skirt is really nice and I am contemplating buying the same one but in white.

On Thursday I headed into central London to meet my friend Jess who I used to go to school with and we sat in the sun, caught up, drank ice cold cola and it was a really nice afternoon. It's always good when you can pick up with a friend right where you left off, even if you haven't seen them in ages.

I decided to try ombre lips and used Revlon ColorBurst lip pencil in 'Audacious' in the centre and my bright pink Chanel 'La Diva' on the outsides
After that I headed to Liberty for a REN Skincare masterclass. The night was held up in one of the treatment rooms and we were welcomed into the room with Prosecco, green juices and healthy nibbles. The evening was really nice and informal, full of giggles and very informative. I have recently rejigged my skincare routine and now use a lot of REN products and my skin really does thank me for it! We got to test lots of the products out, watch them being used on a real like human being, you could have a mini facial, a chat with a nutritionist and the goody bags were filled with samples and bits to take home with us. I think I will do a new skincare routine soon as since my last one, I have learnt SO much about how to look after your skin and you can really see a difference in how it looked a few months a go.

I wore an old River Island jacket, breton stripe dress from New Look Inspire, old Topshop bag and old Zara necklace.
On Friday my lovely friend Teeny came over to my house and we made pizzas together and stuffed our faces. I hadn't made pizza bases before but after realising how easy they are to do I think I will be making them again in the future. It was really nice to have a gossip, eat tasty food and slob in front of the telly.

Saturday was a really nice a productive day. In the morning my housemate and I sorted my little garden out. The grass had gotten out of hand and it all needed a little TLC. This wore me out! I need to realise that in my head I am all go, go, go but my Fibro makes me slow, slow, slow. I spent the rest of the day chilling out before my two friends Ray and Jo came over. Ray is a domestic goddess and said she would come over and cook a few things with me to freeze for days when my Fibro is too bad and means I can't be arsed to cook anything. We made Ratatoue, lentil bake, Cauliflower bread, tatziki, salad and turkey burgers. We washed the lentil bake down with Spritz' my new favourite drink! Prosseco and Aperol...what a bloody beautiful concoction. Please try one if you haven't already!

I straightened my hair for the first time since getting it cut on Wednesday and I think I might prefer it more than curly! I also used my grey Kiko lipstick which looked great with my neon coral top that I recently bought from George at Asda and my little name necklace from Topshop.

Well there we go guys, nothing ground breaking happened but I was out and about a lot and had a really nice time so it really lifted my spirits! It's so good to be back in this city.
