Molton Brown | Rosa Absolute Collection

Last week I was a very lucky girl and I got to attend a fabulous blogger event in collaboration with Molton Brown. The focus of the event was to give us an exclusive preview of their latest collection, The Rosa Absolute Collection which has launched today!
The night consisted of yummy cocktails, an expert fragrance workshop where we learnt about the make up of the scent and a beautiful, 3 course meal taking inspiration from an Italian Renaissance banquet at the stunning, Boca Di Lupo restaurant in Soho.

At the end of the event we were given a goody bag full of Rosa Absolute treats and I thought I'd talk you through the range, give you my opinion on the scent and point you in the right direction if you fancied treating yourself to any of the products.

Creator, Nathalie Koobus of Fragrances Essentielles says "Blackcurrant, raspberry and strawberry evoke a rich magenta shade; spiced up by red berries, cinnamon and clove. Intoxicating rose absolute and violet leaf unfold into an accord of cedar wood, patchouli and sandalwood."

The top notes of this fragrance hit you straight away - I love the smell of raspberry and blackcurrant and they give a modern twist to the classic, rose absolute scent. I find rose scented things can generally be quite old fashioned but the punchy additions of pink peppercorn oil and Violet leaf absolute really make this fragrance stand out from the crowd.

Yes Plisse!

Culottes - check, plisse - check, pleats - check. Merge these things together and you have a bang on trend outfit my friends.

I love when you wear an outfit and it feels so comfortable you could be in your pyjamas. THIS outfit is that comfortable; it really is. Culottes are a new venture for me and I'm really happy with how this outfit turned out. I sized up which I normally do in bottoms, but I definitely could have done with my normal size or even a size down. This is something to keep in mind if you fancy treating yourself to them.

You can buy this two-piece separately which I love and I think both the jacket and the culottes are really versatile. You could dress the culottes up with heels and the jacket would look fab with everything - jeans, skirts and dresses. Shoutout to my Adidas Superstars which I can't stop wearing!

Flirting with Florals

Back in the day I was obsessed with prints and most noticeably, floral prints. I worked as a Print Designer so I was surrounded by printed everything and if I was going out for the night; you'd always see me in a floral bodycon dress.

Fast forward a few years and although I still love prints I've noticed I wear them a lot less. I'm not sure why this is the case, I haven't ditched them altogether though. I still love to introduce prints into my outfits even if the main garment is plain. A lovely example of this is the floral embroidered hem maxi dress I am sporting in todays outfit post. The floral detail adds a little something something to this relatively simple mesh dress don't you think?

SHOP MY LOOK

I am quite picky when it comes to prints and maybe I am just not taken by any of the printed offerings at the moment. I loved them last year when I was obsessed with the 70s trend but at the moment; I'm just not really a fan. Let's see what happens when more of the AW16 items hit the shops!

To print or not to print? This is the question...

My Feelunique Sale Edit

Ever since I found out about Feel Unique, I have pretty much done all my beauty shopping online with them. They stock loads of my fave brands, they always have sales, they include the best samples in your package & they are always introducing banging new brands to their site.

You know when you go into Boots to get face wipes but you come out with at least £30 worth of stuff - well, this happens to me on the Feel Unique site every time. I buy one product, it then recommends something else and before you know it you've bought Moroccan oil for your ear lobes and glitter for your labia.

Ahem, well onto the purpose of this post... Feel Unique are having a HUGE summer sale and I thought I'd put together a little edit of all the things I need, want...probably shouldn't buy.

1. Laura Geller Beauty Sugared Baked Pearl Eyeshadow - I love creamy eyeshadows and I wear one as a base everyday for my other eyeshadows. This beauty is next on my hit list.

2. Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne - This is one of my fave perfumes. It's super sweet and uber feminine. I love that it's in the sale and I definitely want to stock up on it whilst the price is so good.

3. Figs & Rouge Vanilla Pistachio Shea Butter Hand Cream - I can't lie; I pretty much only want this for the packaging and at £6.35 you can't really go wrong can you?

4. Yves Saint Laurent Spring Look Blush - I regularly use a YSL blusher which is pretty much the same colour but it's nearly run out soooooo, this is my next victim.

5. bare Minerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo - A stunning setting powder with a hint of glow! Yummy!

6. KMS California HairStay Anti Humidity Seal - This weather is INSANE. I need help controlling my frizz. This could be the answer!

7. Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Eye Lifting Balm - Caudalie products are gorgeous and I think it's time I started using an eye cream to be honest.

8. NAILSINC Alexa Fabric Effects in Alexa Leather - A sassy update to your standard black polish. I have to see what this looks like!
So there it is, my top Feelunique sale picks. Has anything caught your eye?

Waiting Game

Something a little different for me in this outfit. First of all, I'm wearing jeans - ripped jeans at that! Secondly, I am wearing trainers. It's only taken me like 20 or so years to join the Adidas party... I'm so lame right? Better late than never I guess?!

The bottom half of this outfit I'd say is heavily inspired by my bestie, Callie. She loves a ripped jean and pair of Adidas Superstars doesn't she! I've tried to find ripped jeans, or just black jeans in general for ages and I always struggle. I should have listened to Callie when she said her fave pair were from Evans (here) but I saw these and loved how many rips they had in them.

These particular ripped jeanson the surface look fab but I am sad to say that I am 50/50 on them.
Things I love about them: The rips themselves are great!
The fit round the waist and hips is spot on.
The wash of the jeans is nice and dark.

Things I dislike about the jeans:
The length of them. I am too short and had to roll them up loads and I wish they were nice and tight on my ankle.

1. Jacket | 2. Ripped Jeans | 3. Adidas Trainers | 4. White T-shirt

So, I am still on the hunt of my perfect pair of ripped jeans... Me and jeans just don't get on that well!

Anyway, I don't want to be a negative Nancy because I LOVE this outfit in general (especially this main range ASOS jacket which reminds me of a modern day camo print) and I am so happy with how the pictures have come out. I love the colour palette of the outfit vs backdrop and I can safely say I am now an Adidas trainer fan.

A hint of western

I love to take an aspect of a popular trend, such as the Western trend and make it work for my plus size body. We don't have to go the whole hog to pay homage to a trend; an accessory, footwear choice or one garment can be enough to 'get the look'.

The Western trend which appeared back on the spring catwalks via designers such as Celine, Marc Jacobs and Coach; has filtered down to the highstreet and hooray - there's lots of western influenced items out there perfect for us plus size girls. Think fringing, suede, buckles and pretty prairie dresses.

I spied this floral dress over on Asos and the cut-out caught my eye. Now, I'm going to be honest with you; your bra does end up showing so make sure you wear your best bra if you decide to buy this baby. My favourite, fancy bra is by Scantilly and I have no problem with people seeing this bad boy; it's so beautiful and I love how the harness straps show.
