Naughty-cool

Well this jacket landed on the online shelves of ASOS Curve and as expected it sold out pretty quickly.  It was quite pricey but for such an intricate piece, that didn't come as much of a surprise to me. The lace detail and edgy biker shape make this a jacket of dreams in my opinion. My black lace bomber which I've had for years has some stiff competition with this bad boy around. They look like a lovely couple hanging in my wardrobe though.

I've been wearing this jacket over plain colours like black or grey marl but seeing it hanging next to my new Forever21+ stripy dress I thought I'd pair them up and I do like this pairing I must say. I went through a nautical phase about 4 years ago, I'm laughing as I write this actually. My entire wardrobe was stripy, tan, red, sailor themed.... how quirky of me :-/
I've not revisited that whole vibe since then until now but... I really do like this outfit. I loved wearing it and felt really special in it. Lots of people were very complimentary and that always sticks with me. I like to make a mental note of which outfits I feel good in so that I can re visit them on those "arghhhh what do I wear???" kind of days.

I picked up this scuba dress from Forever21+ whilst I was in Westfield shopping centre. I've checked online and sadly they don't seem to have it on there, so if you can get to a shop that stocks their plus section I recommend you do! It's a brilliant dress. Lovely and thick, splays out at the waist and it's a good length. Fingers crossed you get to find this dress as it's a goodun.

My white chunky plimsolls are from Office and they are bloody comfy. The white shoe obsession continues! I accessorised with gold jewellery and my old tan clutch bag which my Mum gave me. The necklace is an old Topshop piece and the midi ring was from ASOS Curve. My lippy is my signature red from Clarins called Clarins Red and the nail varnish is called Malibu and it's a matte Barry M varnish with a glossy top coat on the top.

Really love the bright pop of the Barry M varnish in Malibu

Do you own(o) a kimono?

This week I have been perving at kimonos and drooling at all of the beautiful prints. I find that they are the perfect summer time cover over. You can fling them over your shoulders and when you don't want to wear it, it doesn't take up heaps of room in your handbag.

You can wear a kimono with tonnes of different outfits including shorts, skinny jeans, body con dresses, maxi dresses, culottes... the list is endless. Here are some of my favourite kimonos available online at the moment.

Don't forget Dorothy Perkins

When I was sixteen, Dotty P's was my favourite shop. I was in their jeans all the time and loved their tops and shoes. In recent years I must admit I have tended to forget they exist and when I'm doing my weekly (sorry who am I trying to kid, DAILY online trawls) it isn't a shop I think to check out.

I looked a few weeks back when they had lots of their beautiful pastel items but didn't buy anything but when I went on last week, I spotted this beautiful palm leaf dress and at £19 I thought it seemed like a bargain! It wasn't until I received it that I realised it was actually from their Tall section. This is such a genius idea! I am not the biggest fan of my legs from the knees up so when I do get my pins out, I like to have a dress that hits me at the knees or that hangs lower than them. By buying from the tall range this means the extra length in their dresses will be perfect for me! I am definitely going to be shopping with them again as they go up to a UK22 and they have some lovely bits in at the moment. I went to their AW14 press day and boy do they have some good stuff in store for us!

I spent the day in the park with friends yesterday and decided I wanted to wear something cool and light and this dress, sandals and cardie proved to be the perfect combo. The sandals are my new best friends as they are a dream to walk around in. Brand new and they have never rubbed. They are wide fit and lovely! The cardigan... have you noticed the colour? It's quite hard to miss I guess ;) It's a really fine knit and perfect if you want to cover up but not feel like you're wrapped in a duvet. It's from Monki which isn't a plus size store but they do carry a lot of over sized garments so it's worth having a look online or in one of their shops. The bag is a vintage number from the 50s and it is so different from any of my other bags and I love it. It always makes me feel like such a lady when I use it! The glasses are my prescription Dior glasses from Pretavoir which I always feel fabulous in.

It was such a lovely sunny day and it was the perfect Saturday!

Shiny, happy people! This is Bob my best friend :)

Cupcakes...oh man the toffee banana one was immense

Nailed it - nailpolish.co.uk

I've been neglecting my nails recently as I left all my nail polish and tool bag at home in Devon and I have just been using the same old black nail polish every week. I love a black nail but with summer attempting to make an appearance it was about time I swapped my black for something a little more brighter!

Enter Nailpolish.co.uk, a brilliant little online store which offers you the chance to buy some big names in the polish world including Sally Hansen, Essie, Barry M and china glaze. When they got in contact and asked if I would like to review some of their polishes I jumped at the chance! Ooh, and just so you know they offer free first class delivery on all orders... you can't go wrong with that now can you?

I picked two shades. First up was this china glaze varnish in Too Yacht To Handle (which I will chat about today) and I also picked Matt White by Barry M as I have fancied a white nail varnish for ages.

This is my first experience using china glaze. It's a name I've seen around for years but I hadn't got round to trying. I loved this polish, it is such a great colour and I actually found it hard to choose my fave one, they have some immense colours. The only negative thing I have to say about this polish is the fact the brush is quite thin, I usually prefer the flatter, wider ones.

My experience using their site and their delivery time all get a thumbs up from me. Check them out guys... it's always nice to find new smaller online shops that feel a little more personal compared to the bigger ones.

Cut the crap and wear a thin strap.

I used to hate getting my arms out in summer. I felt like they looked vile and everyone would stop and stare at me. I spent years trying to hide them in sleeves, never letting my arm pits see the light of day.
As I have gotten older I've come to realise the world won't ground to a halt if I show them; when summer now comes around I get them out, let the sun turn my skin golden brown and I free those pits!

This Primark dress is the sort of dress I might have shied away from a few years a go. I spotted it on the rails and remembered my favourite dress from last year and it is pretty much the same shape. It has tiny straps and they are also detachable but I bloody love it. The print is beautiful and I like that it's really long, it goes well below my knees. The back has a stretchy panel which is stripy like the straps are and I like that it's cotton, this means it's nice and cool when it's really hot out there. Check this beautiful ASOS Curve dress out, it's a different colour but means you can create this look if you aren't able to get yourself to a Primark.

I went home to Devon for a few days and the weather was so beautiful! I am so glad I packed this beauty. I wore it with my new sandals from Simply Be (which are for wide feet and very comfy) a clear perspex necklace from Topshop, my leopard print bangle which my friend bought me years a go and I slicked on my new lippy which is from Makeup Store and is called Crimson Matt.

Try it girls, if you don't like it and it makes you feel uncomfortable then at least you know you gave it a shot. I promise you this though, if you get over this hurdle the choices you have in dresses will increase for you. There are some really cute strappy dresses out there this summer... give them a go girls.

Makeup Revolution Scandalous Lipstick - Depraved.

I've been seeing this Makeup Revolution brand all over my Instagram for the last few weeks and their lipstick shades in particular caught my eye. They are so bright! I can't wear MAC lippies as I am allergic to them and I'm always on a look out for bright lipstick shades. It's sad I can't wear MAC as all their other products are fine for me to use but the lipsticks make my lips come up in a really sore rash - yuk!

I ordered this purple lipstick which is called Depraved and I love it. Er, it's £1.00 yes that's right...one whole pound. The packaging isn't the classiest packaging I have ever seen but for a £1.00 you really can't complain. It reminds me of the brand MUA which is also another super cheap, drugstore makeup brand. The one negative I'd say is that the lid doesn't seem to stay on very well so that may be a problem if you tend to chuck your lippies into your handbag. Hopefully as the brand grow, they will make their packaging a bit better.

Anyway, enough blabbing. It's a bright shade, goes on well and it's very pigmented! It's not drying at all and sticks around for a reasonable amount of time before you need to reapply.

Now that I have broken my Makeup Revolution virginity and it's not been a traumatic experience; I will definitely be stocking up on some more of this super cheap brand. Check out all their products here

Who's in need of a strapless bra?

The wonder women over at Curvy Kate have got a treat in store for you! They are launching a strapless bra which will be available up to a J cup and praiseeeee the lord because it works! It really does work!

I spent the day with a bunch of fabulous women including my darlings Callie and George and we put the new bra to the test! There was a trampoline there so it was only polite to climb on and jump around like a bunch of idiots.

We spent the day shooting for a video that they will upload when they launch the bra - so watch out for that. Keep your eyes peeled ladies, it's a goodun. Search #MyUlitimateUplift on Instagram to keep up to date...I think they are launching it in August this year.

Todays outfit was a simple affair. Black and white - a classic combo. I wore my Forever21 crop top and my ASOS skirt, Topshop boots, H&M necklace and of course a slick of my La Diva lipstick by Chanel. The last time I wore this skirt, I had leggings on and I felt so much better with my pins on show. Remember to size down, down, downnnnn in this skirt. I'm wearing a UK16 and could have easily bought the 14.

50s Hen Party

On Saturday, I glammed myself up and headed to a hen do for one of my best friends. The theme was 1950s and I chose to channel the whole Mad Men, uber-feminine, lady like vibe of that era.

I originally thought I wanted to wear a 50s style prom dress but when this ASOS Curve co-ord (top and skirt) caught my eye I knew I had to order it and try it on. When it arrived, I wasn't disappointed. I sized up on the skirt and I am so happy I did as if I had gone with my normal size, it would have been too small. I sized up on the top as well but in my opinion this wasn't necessary. The skirt and the top are made from the same thick material that is lovely and weighty and feels really nice and expensive. I didn't realise when I saw it online that the top was so long. I had envisaged it to be a little more cropped. If you decide to tuck the top into the skirt like I did, make sure you smooth it down underneath as it can look a little lumpy, what with there being so much length to the top.

I am big on co-ordinating sets at the moment and think that they look really sophisticated. I tend to wear a lot dresses and it felt nice to wear a two piece on a night out for a change. I even braved getting my legs out....something I haven't done on a night out for a longggggggg time. I wore little shorts underneath the skirt and I like that although my legs where on show, the skirt was nice and long and there was no risk of flashing my cellulite whilst I threw some shapes on the dance floor later on in the evening.

I curled my hair using my ghds, set it with lots of spray, pinned one side back and my friend helped me create a big roll which we pinned and sprayed. It stayed in place all night which I thought was impressive! I wore these River Island flower earrings, old Zara heels, and my old Topshop handbag and my La Diva lipstick by Chanel.

We went for Champagne High Tea at BB Bakery in Covent Garden, followed by cocktails in Camden and then we danced the night away at Koko. The day/evening was sooo good, the bride to Be looked incredible (as did all the hens) and here are a few snaps from the day....before it all got a little too sweaty!

The beautiful Bride to Be!
I've put together a selection of items so you can recreate my look, or if you aren't sure about wearing a two piece co-ordinating set here are some other 50s inspired pieces you can wear this summer.
