Introducing Black Widow | White Lies - Carmakoma AW15

It's baking hot here in London at the moment but that hasn't stopped me from drooling over AW15 pieces when they drop into my inbox. It's always tricky trying to imagine what you'll fancy wearing when it comes to a completely different season but I love making a mental note of whats going to be available and then when it drops online or in store I'm always happy I did a bit of pre planning.

Carmakoma continue to be one of my favourite plus size brands. They offer quality, on trend pieces and yes, I'm not going to sugar coat things they are on the more pricey end of the spectrum BUT that's what we need! We need quality, luxury items just as much as we need fast fashion. We need choice and thankfully with brands like Carmakoma; we now have that! Hurray!

Here's a little sneak peek, (before they publish it on their on their website) at what we can expect this Autumn. I love the mix of super feminine and androgynous looks and as ever their attention to detail with features such as lace and faux fur mean that their should be something for everyone come winter. The white tailored 'Peacham' jacket worn over the 'Clapham' dress is giving me Clueless + Chanel vibes and I'm digging it!

Denim Dream

I recently received an exciting email from Danish brand, Carmakoma asking if I would like to be a Carmakoma Jeans Ambassador - I of course said yes! They have recently launched a sub-label called "Carmakoma Jeans" and they have a select collection of denim items which you can see here.

When they asked if I'd like to pick some pieces to try I of course chose the *Kadina Dress and some joggers that I will blog about soon. This dress is going to be my 'go to' dress for the forseable future because it's one of those items you can just grab and put on, fuss free but you still look well turned out and I know i'll be able to style it in a hundred different ways. There's an idea actually! Maybe I should start a feature where I take one item and style it three ways... would that be something you'd be interested in seeing?

Size wise, I picked a size "L" and I went a size up from normal as I didn't want the dress to be clingy on my stomach. I was nervous that the dress wouldn't have much stretch in it but it does and I like how it just falls and doesn't feel tight and there's no hint of a VPL anywhere *please see the pic of my behind! I kept the outfit simple with some Nike Roshe Run trainers, thick black tights because Spring is still on vacation and an old white rucksack that I use over and over again.

Carmakoma comes to Evans.

In the last month Evans has introduced a number of brands as part of their Brand Edit. Danish brand Carmakoma is one of those brands and when Evans contacted me and asked if I would like to try some of their pieces I jumped at the chance. Carmakoma has been on my radar for a long time but I've never bought anything from them. I've always seen their clothes on other bloggers and enjoy following their social media pages but for some reason I've never actively gone online to shop their garments.

Now that Carmakoma is available online and in some Evans stores I feel like it's going to be a lot more accessible and I like that I will be able to go into a store and try on the clothes.

Anyway, on to the clothes! The price points for Carmakoma are a little higher than I would normally pay for clothes BUT if you are after some investment pieces, this is a brand you should investigate.

I picked this Smudge Print Dress to try and the Lightweight Coat and I am really happy with both pieces. I feel really grown up in this outfit but I can also see myself wearing this dress with bright high heels for a night out with my friends.

The dress is really lovely and light but it doesn't cling to my lumps and bumps like a lot of dresses tend to. The shape is really flattering and you can't really tell from my pictures, but the back hem is slightly lower which I like because when I wear this with my legs on show I like the fact the back of my knees will be covered up.

The jacket, although long sleeved and black is nice and lightweight (as the name suggests) and it'll be perfect for when I go out in the evening and I want to make sure I have a coat with me when I'm falling out of the bar at god knows what time of night ;) The boucle fabric and the popper fastenings on the front jazz this jacket up and I like that although the sleeves are long, I can roll them up my chubby arms. I accessorised todays outfit with my wide fit boots from New Look and an old necklace from H&M which is silver AND NOT GOLD....god, I've changed!
