How to wear Patchwork denim

In recent weeks I have become obsessed with the classic American combo of red, white and blue and a certain Spring 2017, Ready-To-Wear collection has most certainly had something to do with this obsession.

Back in February, Tommy Hilfiger showcased his 2017 collection in LA and we saw a range made up of signature sportswear looks, patch work denim with strong boho vibes and everythingggggg was embroidered. As soon as I saw this catwalk collection I knew I wanted to recreate a look pronto!

Finding this particular pair of patchwork jeans started the ball rolling and I was instantly drawn to them for a number of reasons. 1) They scream 90's sportswear 2) I have yet to venture into the world of patchwork denim and 3) they're from ASOS so I knew if I hated them I could return them for free...it's the small things that get me haha.

Patchwork denim has been around for a hot minute and everyone who is anyone has been spotted wearing it. I love the customised vibe of these jeans and the fact they look a little bit DIY. As mentioned in a previous post (here) I LOVE embroidery and the 3D rose patches on these jeans really spoke to me. They're so beautiful, right?

I decided to go full blown 90s sportswear when it came to styling these jeans and I absolutely love this look if I'm honest with you. Imagine my delight when looking at the Tommy Hilfiger section on ASOS and I spotted this cropped hoody (now sadly out of stock). I'm heavily into the combo of the classic red, navy, and white and the fact the cropped sits happily on top of the high waisted Mom jeans. If you fancy trying these jeans; why don't you fully embrace the 90's sportswear vibe like I have? You might just love it!

I finished off the look with these teeny diamond frame sunnies and don't laugh...but I am obsessed with martial art/Kung Fu shoes at the moment and to continue the red and white theme; I wore my newest ying yang/Wushu plimsolls which you can buy here.

Did you know - Levi's does plus?

I remember seeing some Levi Jeans at a Navabi press day, I was excited to hear/see they were launching plus sizes but then life took over and I didn't think any more of it. Fast forward a few months and picture my delight when I spotted a whole host of Levi's on the Navabi website!

Levi's have extended their sizes (to a size 26 it seems? - I will confirm this) and there aren't just one/two pieces in the range but actually quite a few styles, including jackets and shorts.

Denim fans rejoice!

Being the nosey parker I am; I had to try a pair for myself. I picked the Levi's Shaping Plus 310 Super Skinny Jean and here's what I thought...

I am forever trying to find the perfect pair of jeans *aren't we all?* and being a 22/24 on my bottom half; I never know what jean size will fit me. I opted for a 22 and the fit is pretty good to be honest. I would love them to be even tighter than they are, seeing as they are called the "Super Skinny Jean" - some times, I like my jeans to look like they've been spray painted on!!

The denim in this particular style has a stretch to it and I like that it says that this style would suit 'pear, boyish and hourglass' shapes on the Navabi site - jeans for all body types is a must! My only grumble with this particular pair is the length of them on my 5'3 frame. Since buying them I've noticed they do "normal" and "long" lengths though so I will definitely opt for normal next time!

Casual Sundays with BHS

It's funny how we all have items of clothes that we shy away from, we feel uncomfortable wearing or we simply have no idea of how to style them.

For years I have had a love hate relationship with jeans. I LOVE them on other people; but HATE them on me! I have struggled to find the perfect fit, the perfect wash and don't get me started on the perfect length. I am quite short at 5 '3 and even the 'regular' length swamps me.

When Fashionchick offered me the chance to collaborate with BHS - I knew I wanted to tackle the great denim debacle! I'm not sure if you all know this but BHS stock Evans and other brands such a Dorothy Perkins as well as their own ranges.

Faced with the challenge of finding an outfit for £50 I started off with a pair of *Evans Mid Wash Super Stretch Skinny Regular Length Jeans - now, honestly the fit is great and I love how tight they are but as per usual they are far too long for me. I don't mind the rolled up look but I'm hoping in the future that I'll be able to get some jeans that don't swamp my legs. This *2-in-1 jumper is my fave item in this whole outfit. It has the illusion of a denim shirt underneath but actually it's just a collar attached to the neck of the jumper! I can see me wearing this with jeans, denim skirts or even under a pair of dungarees.

I love the colour combination of tan and denim so my new Chunky Tan Sandals seemed like a perfect fit for this outfit, as did my beautiful new mini Suede Fringe Backpack and gold sunglasses. I've also been wearing these Gold Chain Earrings constantly - my love for gold jewellery will never fade!

A slow start

It's been a slow start for me this year. New Years Eve celebrations were hilarious but have worn me out and I've been bit of a hermit ever since. I have the whole of 2015 to accomplish everything I want to; so I don't feel the need to rush anything.

I've been in pyjamas for most of January - hence the lack of outfit posts but today I ventured out with my Sister in Law, Lauren and my mega adorable Niece, Eloise. Spending time with her is guaranteed to cheer me up and a coffee and slab of cake may not help my sore tummy but damn it was nice!

Before Lauren headed off home she snapped me in my outfit and here's what I wore:

What I'm wearing

Jacket - eBay available here
*Jumper - Look Magazine for Simply Be available here
*Jeggings - New Look Inspire available here
Boots - Vagabond available here
Necklace - GoGo Philip similar here

Bit of Red Velvet and coffee from my local cafe in Leyton
Eloise' first appearance on my blog! Isn't she just the cutest?!
Hopefully things will start to improve for me over the next few days and I will be back to blogging a bit more regularly. Stick with me gang.

P.s I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who messaged me or left a comment on my previous post (here)... It was quite difficult for me to talk about my illness but in doing so I hope it helps increase awareness for the condition and what it's like to live with an "invisible" illness.

Stop press. I'm wearing jeans.

When I was in my teens I lived in those heinous carpenter jeans from Gap. I then got too fat for Gap and turned to Dotty P's for my jeans. I lived in them because I didn't know how else to dress myself and I hadn't found my love of fashion just yet.

I moved to London when I was 18. Still living in jeans but switching it up a bit with jazzy tops...vom.  After a few months of studying at The University of the Arts, I started to experiment and I started to dress in crazy vintage dresses, sequin jackets and colourful tights. I totally ditched the jeans and I haven't worn them since.

I've tried to find jeans that suit me, I really have. I find hunting for them bloody boring though. I like them to be high waisted to hold my belly in and I like them to be tight at the ankle and go high enough up my thighs so that my legs don't rub when I walk. I'm not sure what it is about jeans but when I have tried to wear them in recent years I tend to feel frumpy and un-sexy. I'm not sure why though!

Just when I was giving up hope of finding a fabulous pair of jeans, in walk Topsy Curvy. I couldn't recommend them enough. They go nice and high and sit where I like them, just above my belly button. I like the wash on them and I like that when I walk around they go nice and high up (in my crotch area sorry..not sorry) so that when I do walk around my fat thighs don't rub together.
The only problem I have with this pair of jeans is that they are too long for me. This is always a problem for me as I am a short ass, but I got over that by rolling them up and sometime in the coming
weeks I will get them taken up - problem sorted!

Jeans - Topsy Curvy
Sheer striped top - Tesco Clothing
Heels - old Zara
Clutch - my Mums (brand not known)
Necklace - H&M many years a go

p.s I'm aware my toe nails look unkept and shitty, awfully sorry about that.

*These jeans were given to me for review.
