Denim Daisy

Good afternoon all,

Such a sunny, glorious day isn't it?! It really does help to improve your mood, when the sun is pouring through your windows and warming up your pastey skin.

I popped up to London yesterday to meet my lesbian life parter Callie and we headed to the New Look HQ to try on clothes and drink prosecco and discuss our future project. Exciting times ahead guys so stay tuned for what we have planned!!

This is the outfit I decided to wear and I really enjoyed plodding around in such a springy outfit.
The *denim parka from Simply Be is such dream. I didn't know how much I wanted one until I saw it, if that makes any sense? Such a great in-between season type coat. I love the white cord toggle and the fact is has a hood.

The Topsy Curvy *daisy dress, which I have worn to death since acquiring it, is a perfect little swing dress. Very short on me but the parka stops everyone from seeing... ya know. Remember to size up in this style as it comes up quite small.

My necklace is an old Accessorize jobby and I love the mix of denim and neon. I think it suited the outfit rather well! I wore my really old, white brogues (standardly) and I bought this cute grey/blue bag from Topshop last year and it was suchhhhh a good buy. It goes with tonnes of outfits and I love that it's quite dinky but you can ram it full of your shite still. My blue ring is an old one from Primark and the sparkly one is an old Accessorize purchase. The bangle is an old gift from my mum. Aww, I do love my Mum.

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend, and making the most of the sunshine? What are you all up to?

Missing the boat.

In a previous post, back when I started blogging I talked about the fact that sometimes you watch a trend spread from the catwalk to main stream fashion; but that you admire it from afar and that you don't try it for yourself.

This is what I did with the whole crop top thing. I've seen post after post featuring fabulous fat bitches wearing crop tops, flashing some flesh and sticking their middle finger up to the fashion rules imposed on us. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to try it but I'm SO chuffed that I have. I absolutely love how this outfit has turned out.

Don't stress yourself out if you "miss the boat" when it comes to trends. If it takes you some time to try it out for yourself then that's totally ok.

Skirt - c/o Topsy Curvy
Long sleeved crop top - c/o OneOneThree
Jacket - old Tesco
Heels - old M&S

Have you loved a trend and then watched it go by and thought "Shit, I'm too late, I'll look silly if I wear that now"?

*I hope you enjoy how orange my legs look. Tanned these bad boys but then the light, the poor quality pics and dodgy spray tan combined to make me look rather patchy!

Stop press. I'm wearing jeans.

When I was in my teens I lived in those heinous carpenter jeans from Gap. I then got too fat for Gap and turned to Dotty P's for my jeans. I lived in them because I didn't know how else to dress myself and I hadn't found my love of fashion just yet.

I moved to London when I was 18. Still living in jeans but switching it up a bit with jazzy tops...vom.  After a few months of studying at The University of the Arts, I started to experiment and I started to dress in crazy vintage dresses, sequin jackets and colourful tights. I totally ditched the jeans and I haven't worn them since.

I've tried to find jeans that suit me, I really have. I find hunting for them bloody boring though. I like them to be high waisted to hold my belly in and I like them to be tight at the ankle and go high enough up my thighs so that my legs don't rub when I walk. I'm not sure what it is about jeans but when I have tried to wear them in recent years I tend to feel frumpy and un-sexy. I'm not sure why though!

Just when I was giving up hope of finding a fabulous pair of jeans, in walk Topsy Curvy. I couldn't recommend them enough. They go nice and high and sit where I like them, just above my belly button. I like the wash on them and I like that when I walk around they go nice and high up (in my crotch area sorry..not sorry) so that when I do walk around my fat thighs don't rub together.
The only problem I have with this pair of jeans is that they are too long for me. This is always a problem for me as I am a short ass, but I got over that by rolling them up and sometime in the coming
weeks I will get them taken up - problem sorted!

Jeans - Topsy Curvy
Sheer striped top - Tesco Clothing
Heels - old Zara
Clutch - my Mums (brand not known)
Necklace - H&M many years a go

p.s I'm aware my toe nails look unkept and shitty, awfully sorry about that.

Pretty much the softest jumper you'll ever feel.

Hello gang!

So in amongst the craziness of moving back to London I have suddenly found the urge to do shit loads of outfit posts. I've been neglecting the blog and myself generally because I am so focused on the moving and everything associated with it but I've recently acquired lots of fab clothes and accessories so I wanted to show you all my goodies.

Today I wore the WORLDS SOFTEST JUMPER. This jumper is from Tesco and was super cheap and Mum actually picked it up for me whilst doing the weekly shop. I find Tesco clothing comes up a little small so I always size up. Mum chose a 22 for me and I think it's spot on. It's a boxy jumper and some might say it's not the most flattering but.....erm, I don't really care. It also comes in black and pink and you can see it here.

I wore this fluffy delight over my *Daisy print swing dress from Topsy Curvy. I sized up with this dress as it comes up quite small. It's definitely the sort of dress you wear over thick leggings or tights. You might show your lady bits if you bent over you see.

The necklace is a recent purchase from Topshop and it's rather sweet I think. My collection of pink things is steadily growing and this is the perfect addition. You can take a look at it here if you want to that is.

The tan high heeled brogues are from Clarks last year and I am still trying to break them in...not gunna lie, they aren't that comfy at the moment. I bought them because I am addicted to the ones from Office and when I saw these I thought they were great dupes. Hopefully the get better once they are broken in!

Finally a look at my makeup for today. I have been wearing this Chanel lippy every day. It's so soft on my lips and the colour is so vivid. It's called 'La Diva' and you can see it here.

I think I might live in this jumper. Seriously, go to Tesco and grope it.
Hope you are all having a good week and that you have a FABULOUS weekend.

A day with Topsy Curvy.

Over the last 6 or so months you will have noticed that I have spoken about the small, independent plus size company called Topsy Curvy on a number of occassions. The company is run by two best friends called Jo and Charlotte and they stock clothes in sizes 14 - 28 (with some styles going up to a 32)

I absolutely LOVE these two girls and what they offer us plus size ladies. They are quite frankly the nicest lasses I've met in a long time and they are extremely passionate about what they do. They run an online store but they also manage their lovely boutique which can be found in Whitefield, on the outskirts of Manchester. Check their website for directions etc.

After working together on a few occasions and getting to know each other via our social media platforms; the girls contacted me and invited me to their HQ for the day.

It was a very early start for me as I hoped on a flight from Devon to Manchester! I was up at 4am eeek!

After my flight, Jo and Charlotte met me and look at what was waiting for me in the airport car park....

The first treat of the day! It was so funny speeding down the motorway in this little car! We were laughing our heads off and we caught up, had the first of many gossip sessions and they told me what I had in store for the day.

Once we got to their HQ we had a BIG breakfast, washed down with plenty of Bucks Fizz... These girls know the way to my heart ha!

After we had finished breakfast it was time to check out their clothes! I walked round the store with the pair of them and I was able to pick anything I wanted to try on upstairs in their new Personal Shopping Suite. This is a new area in the shop where you can go, with up to 5 of your mates, chill out with a complimentary glass of bubbly (or a brew) whilst one of the in house stylists picks out outfits for you to try on! What a treat!!! Such a nice touch I think.

The girls were so good picking things out for me in my size and I kept piling more and more clothes onto their poor arms!

Upstairs in the Monroe Suite (where they offer a bra fitting service) they put my clothes onto a stand and one by one we went through each garment and I tried them all on.

I will do a separate post to show you guys what I tried on and give you a mini review for each garment.

After trying on the clothes and having my photo taken in all of them we chilled out in their Personal Shopping Suite, gossiped some more, drank Pink Fizz and got ready to go for lunch. The girls were so lovely and booked a table for us at a local restaurant called Slattery's known for their chocolate and desserts!

A glass or two of Prosecco...don't mind if I do!

Myself and Charlotte enjoying some fizz!
I pretended to be healthy by getting the salad but then had a fat dessert so that kind of  ruined that!
Some of the amazing desserts on display in Slatterys
The grand piano electronically played by itself and accompanied our lovely lunch
After lunch we headed back to the shop, I answered some interview questions for them, picked out some lovely clothes which the girls kindly gifted to me and we relaxed together with one of the girls who helps out in their shop called Beth.

Just before it was time for me to head to the airport, I took some snaps of the shop and the girls and then we headed off into the sunset so I could catch my plane home.

Charlotte, Beth and I
Charlotte, myself & Jo
I honestly had the best day. We get on so, so well and I didn't want to leave!! I cant wait to see the girls again and to try on all my lovely clothes and show them all to you. Watch out over the coming weeks for reviews and you can meet the girls in London if you are planning on going to British Plus Size Fashion Weekend - they will be having a stall in the Market Place. I definitely recommend going to see them and checking out their pieces.

Epically long post but I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got up to during my day with Topsy Curvy.

Christmas Day - Comfort vs Glam.

I thought I would show you what I decided to wear this year for Christmas Day. I wanted to mix glam with comfort as I knew there would be plenty of eating and drinking involved so it was definitely not a day for one of my beloved body cons! I wanted to look glam whilst being comfy so I tried to think of what I had and what would help me achieve this look.

This Velvet Skater Dress* from Topsy Curvy had been hanging in my wardrobe for a while and I had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it. In the lead up to Christmas Day I thought about it and quickly tried it on and decided I would team it with something jazzy for the day.

The dress is such a lovely thick velvet and feels like a good quality garment. I like the rich, deep red colour, it's got a pinky tone to it which feels very festive but not as harsh as a proper red would look with the contrasting black leopard print marks. I think it's a lovely dress and I like how the skirt flares out. I would say that it is super short so a thick legging or set of tights will be needed with this dress. No biggie though.

The jacket is in my top 5 most favourite garments I have ever, ever bought. It's a vintage piece from Stockholm and I bought it whilst I was living there. The black knit shows off the sequins and jewels perfectly and I get so much pleasure from wearing it. I wear it winter after winter and I never tire of it. It's just so utterly fabulous don't you think? Like most vintage stuff, it's made so well... it's only just starting to look a little worn in places but nothing a little sewing couldn't fix. I just need to learn how to sew properly now! You would never have thought I did a Textile degree would you? I can't sew at all!!

The door knocker earrings are such a statement. They are HUGE, so big and obnoxious, I love them. I love, love, love them. They are from River Island and sadly I can't see them on the site any more. There are plenty of big earrings out there though, Asos and Galibardy are my two fave places for statement jewellery.

The boots are a few years old now, so many people ask about them and its a shame they aren't available any longer. I liked my first pair so much; I bought a second pair and I'm so happy I did as I wear them every week!

For my makeup I did my usual black eyeliner flicks, lashings of mascara and I mixed two lippies together to get the exact colour I wanted. I mixed Urban Decays Supersaturated Lip Pencil in 'Adrenaline' and Sleep Makeups lipstick in 'Fuchsia'.

Such a pouter! Excuse the fuzzy pic, it was taken with my camera on the back of my iPhone.

Much food and wine was consumed and napping and game playing happened and the dress stayed on all day, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all and I only changed when it was late and I fancied slipping into something a little more comfortable, sadly I don't mean anything sexy, just fluffy pjs I'm afraid!

If you celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a fab day! What did you wear? Was it a comfortable number or did you go all out glam?

What a year!

Today marks the one year anniversary of my blog. I am unbelievably proud of this little blog. The opportunities that have come my way this last year have been phenomenal. I can only hope that it continues to bring me the same joy it does today - I'm sure it will. I've met amazing friends, connected with women across the world, learnt things about myself, my body, other women and fatshion.

I feel unbelievably cheery today so I thought I'd wear an outfit that projects that! I am moving back to London in the new year and I am super excited.

This tartan body con* from Topsy Curvy is bang on trend and right up my street. Bright red, very festive and I like that the sleeves, although short, are a good length. I'm not wearing any shape wear underneath and although the material isn't that thick, the fabric skims over my belly bulge which I like.

Check out my heinously tacky leopard faux fur coat. I spotted it a few months a go in New Look and I'm so glad I bought it ... I knew I'd be thankful of it come winter, its soooo bloody cold down here in Devon.

To finish the outfit off I've given these AMAZING earrings their first outing, I've got my super comfy, cut out boots on my feet and a nude colour on my lips.

Dress - C/o Topsy Curvy
Jacket - old New Look (main range)
Boots - Office
Earrings - River Island
Lipstick - Apocalips in 'Shooting Star'

Thank you for following my blog guys, I really am very appreciative of that. Here's to another year of madness.
