Dinner with Evans

The day before I attended the Evans Collective fashion show, I attended a scrummy meal that saw a combination of some of Evans' fave US and UK bloggers and plus models. You can imagine how fabulous the atmosphere in that room was!
I had the chance to meet some ladies that I speak to all the time online but haven't actually met in person before, catch up with some of my fave US and UK bloggers and meet some ladies I have admired in the fashion world for a long time. It was such a fun night and the food at Kettners was phenomenal!

Evans presented us with a small selection of garments from their Cut for Evans collection and as ever with Evans' capsule collections - I was impressed! Keep your eyes peeled as I am sure I will blog more about this collection in the future. For now, here is the outfit I decided to wear and some snaps from the night. SO many beautiful fat babes!

boohoo plus launch.

So, last week was an incredibly busy week for me and it started off with a delightful afternoon at The Sanderson Hotel in London. Myself and a few other plus size bloggers had the pleasure of attending a launch event for boohoo's plus size range. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco (always a bonus) and the uber friendly boohoo girls invited us to browse the rails of clothes they had displayed beautifully for us. OH.MY.ACTUAL.GOD... they were beautiful. Proper, decent, properly decent clothes. Clothes that I want to wear, clothes that my skinnier pals would want to wear, clothes that the plus size market has been lacking. I wasn't the only one crying out in joy either, we were all saying the same thing. It was so refreshing to see.

There were boxy shapes, two piece sets, daring colours, over size tops, modern prints, up to date garment shapes, the lot! I honestly couldn't pick my favourite piece from the collection! If you take a peek online here at their current stock, you'll see a fair bit of what we saw on the day but there is more due to be released soon and I can't wait. I'm dying to get my hands on the acid wash, tie-dye jeans! The range currently runs in UK sizes 16-24 but fingers crossed, if this collection sells well, they will look into extending their sizes.

The high tea we were served and the goodies we were given were soooooo lovely. As ever, I took a million photos but below shows you a snippet of the afternoon and what I decided to wear.

A day with Topsy Curvy.

Over the last 6 or so months you will have noticed that I have spoken about the small, independent plus size company called Topsy Curvy on a number of occassions. The company is run by two best friends called Jo and Charlotte and they stock clothes in sizes 14 - 28 (with some styles going up to a 32)

I absolutely LOVE these two girls and what they offer us plus size ladies. They are quite frankly the nicest lasses I've met in a long time and they are extremely passionate about what they do. They run an online store but they also manage their lovely boutique which can be found in Whitefield, on the outskirts of Manchester. Check their website for directions etc.

After working together on a few occasions and getting to know each other via our social media platforms; the girls contacted me and invited me to their HQ for the day.

It was a very early start for me as I hoped on a flight from Devon to Manchester! I was up at 4am eeek!

After my flight, Jo and Charlotte met me and look at what was waiting for me in the airport car park....

The first treat of the day! It was so funny speeding down the motorway in this little car! We were laughing our heads off and we caught up, had the first of many gossip sessions and they told me what I had in store for the day.

Once we got to their HQ we had a BIG breakfast, washed down with plenty of Bucks Fizz... These girls know the way to my heart ha!

After we had finished breakfast it was time to check out their clothes! I walked round the store with the pair of them and I was able to pick anything I wanted to try on upstairs in their new Personal Shopping Suite. This is a new area in the shop where you can go, with up to 5 of your mates, chill out with a complimentary glass of bubbly (or a brew) whilst one of the in house stylists picks out outfits for you to try on! What a treat!!! Such a nice touch I think.

The girls were so good picking things out for me in my size and I kept piling more and more clothes onto their poor arms!

Upstairs in the Monroe Suite (where they offer a bra fitting service) they put my clothes onto a stand and one by one we went through each garment and I tried them all on.

I will do a separate post to show you guys what I tried on and give you a mini review for each garment.

After trying on the clothes and having my photo taken in all of them we chilled out in their Personal Shopping Suite, gossiped some more, drank Pink Fizz and got ready to go for lunch. The girls were so lovely and booked a table for us at a local restaurant called Slattery's known for their chocolate and desserts!

I pretended to be healthy by getting the salad but then had a fat dessert so that kind of  ruined that!

After lunch we headed back to the shop, I answered some interview questions for them, picked out some lovely clothes which the girls kindly gifted to me and we relaxed together with one of the girls who helps out in their shop called Beth.

Just before it was time for me to head to the airport, I took some snaps of the shop and the girls and then we headed off into the sunset so I could catch my plane home.

I honestly had the best day. We get on so, so well and I didn't want to leave!! I cant wait to see the girls again and to try on all my lovely clothes and show them all to you. Watch out over the coming weeks for reviews and you can meet the girls in London if you are planning on going to British Plus Size Fashion Weekend - they will be having a stall in the Market Place. I definitely recommend going to see them and checking out their pieces.

Plus London and a note about blogging in general.

Last weekend saw another fabulous event for us plus size ladies to attend. Plus London, organised by a handful of brilliant women was a chance for us to come together, meet fellow fatties, fellow bloggers, meet with well established brands, meet with new brands, listen to talks, watch presentations, drink with fellow fat women, try on vintage dresses, smoke shit loads of fags with fellow smokers, pose for ootd posts, pose in front of cameras with props, learn about fat fashion, try yoga, learn about sexuality etc etc etc. That long list shows some of the things you COULD do at this event if you WANTED to. The fact we as fat women have the opportunity to attend such events now a days is incredible. I've attended a number of pro fat events this year and thought that every single one had both good things and bad things about them.

You should be allowed to take what ever the hell you like away from an event and if Plus London was merely a chance to get pissed and dance with fellow fat people....who gives a shit?! The organisers should be proud of what they achieved. Everyone who attended will of benefited from it and even those who didn't will benefit from just reading about it/knowing such events exist!

I was down to attend both the Saturday and the Sunday but due to shitting and vomiting my insides out on the days leading up to the weekend, I only managed to attend the Saturday brands day. I'm sad I missed out on the Sunday BUT the majority of the activities on the Sunday were not actually my cup of tea but that's ok though because not everything is going to appeal to everyone. Just because I didn't attend on the Sunday or that altering clothes/yoga is not my cup of tea doesn't mean I'm not supportive of this fat community. Just turning up to an event is supporting it. A tweet, message, email of support to the organisers of an event (even if you can't go to it) is also support and I know full well not everyone supported Becky and Toni when it was their turn back in the summer to host Plus North.

Do what you do, don't feel pressured to blog about anything you don't want to or be made to feel bad if you don't cover every fat issue there is out there. If your thing is purely blogging outfit posts, do that. If your thing is empowering people through political chat, do that. If you're passion is fashion (LOL) and you enjoy inspiring women to feel confident through their makeup choices/clothing choices, do that. I don't know jack shit about politics and I struggle to articulate myself when it comes to stuff like that but I do enjoy reading about it. I know I have style and not just as a 'plus size' blogger but as an individual in general and my thing here on this blog is just to fill your eyes with beautiful imagery of myself/other women/fashion/accessories etc.

I know there's a place for me in this blogging world as the response I've had from fellow bloggers/readers has been nothing but positive (that I know of) and I was worried about not sounding intelligent or political enough at the start of this week but now you know what?... I'm gunna carry on taking selfies, reviewing items I get sent for free, showcasing items I've bought with my own money, inspiring women of all sizes and supporting my fellow bloggers on a daily basis.
