Isolated Heros

Feels good to finally be able to upload an outfit post here on the blog! It's been a while ey? I've had a slow start this year and although I've been out and about a lot recently, I've not had the chance to have my pics taken. Hopefully this outfit puts me back in the game? I felt sooooo good in it. Gemma took my pics locally so I didn't have far to walk in it but I really want to go "out out" wearing this exact get up - so many people commented on it (in a good way, no sniggers were heard thankfully...not that I'd have given a flying f&*k if they had...I probably would have turned around, bent over and flashed them my lady bits)

The fabulous sequin dress is an oversized beauty from one of my fave independent brands called Isolated Heros. I have followed them for a while on Instagram and when they had a big sale at Christmas I treated myself to this Sheer Tears Drop Dress. The best thing about this brand is that they have just extended their size range to a UK24 and they make everything in their little studio in Scotland. I promise their Instagram account will brighten up your day - go check them out! Their whole brand aesthetic inspired this outfit and I like how all the different components work together even though they are all so different.

My wonderful suspender tights are an old purchase from M&S and I am wearing an XL which is a great fit on me. This is the first time I wore them out in public but it won't be the last - I felt bloody hot in them! I don't think they are online anymore but check in your local store if you like them. I literally live in these boots... I think I'll buy myself a second pair for when these ones get too shabby. Please note they aren't wide fit but really roomy which is good to know if you need a bit of extra width. The pastel faux fur jobby is from Boohoo Plus and isn't it delightful?

Quilted lilac

I have finally moved into my new house in London and I am so happy to be here. It is so beautiful, I cant wait to take lots of pics and I might do a house tour if anyone is interested in seeing a snap shot of my house. I have filled it to the brim with tacky, vintage stuff... I feel so at home here already.

Anyway, onto the real reason for this post! I decided to wear my new *quilted lilac jacket from Boohoo today and unlike my previous post I actually LOVE this little number. The colour is to die for and as you have probably noticed, very on trend. I have gone pastel mad this spring! I dislike big bulky coats and tend to wear smaller more fitted jackets and this one is the perfect spring piece. I decided to team it with a breton stripe today but I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of it, putting it with more formal midi skirts or wearing it over a printed body con. I bought my usual size and can wear it done up or hanging loose like I have done today, so if you fancy buying this jacket stick with your normal size. I have just had a look online and I cant seem to see the jacket on there but hopefully they are restocking! I know this has been a popular item so keep checking back on the site.

The dress is from George at Asda and I bought it because my old breton dress from Forever21+ has slowly given up on life and has become too bobbly to wear. The fit is really nice and the sleeves, which you can't see are block black instead of stripy. My new boots match well with the outfit I feel and I seem to be wearing them every day! I like the mint and grey necklace with the lilac and the flashes of silver are a nice change for me, I always seem to wear gold everyyyyything. The clutch which I picked up in New Look a few months back was in the sale and a steal at £5. I have seen lots of holographic sandals around and that is something I'm on the prowl for. My lippy today is 'Heartbreaker' by Sleek Makeup. I love bright coraly pink tone to it.

Criss Cross

You may or may not know but Boohoo recently launched a plus size range and after attending their launch event (which you can read about here) I was kindly asked to pick some pieces to review.

One of the pieces I chose was this criss cross print swing dress. Being a fan of black and white, this swing dress caught my eye and I thought it would be a perfect jazzy basic to own.

Now, as you will have read from my previous boohoo post, I am a fan of this range. I am happy us bigger girls now have another high street shop to shop in, I am happy it is a very affordable range, I am happy with how this collection looks and I am excited to watch it grow and change each season. I am sadly not entirely happy with this dress.

The print is brilliant. I love the monochrome, un-even painted feel to it. I like that it is a swing dress with long arms, perfect for this time of year when just as the sun comes out, it is covered up by a huge fluffy cloud. I like that the neck line isn't too high. I have a few swing dresses and the necklines are all very high. With this one, I find it is a good shape on me and means you get to see a teeny bit of flesh!

There are two issues with this dress that mean that for me, it's not ideal. The length is wayyyyyy too short and I would 100% not wear this without a thick pair of leggings. The fabric is also a little too flimsy as well. I like that it is cotton and feels very cool on, but being so thin...it shows every lump and bump I have. I sized up in this style, to a 22 and normally that would mean a dress like this would be huge on me, but actually...I could have even done with going up to a 24! I have heard quite a few bloggers discussing the sizing issues so I hope this is something they will take on board as they receive more feedback.

I paired this dress with some patent cut out boots, a bright pink bag, my new clear sunnies, perspex and gold chain necklace and a slick of my favourite Chanel lippy. I am actually reasonably happy with how the photos came out and will continue to wear this dress but I am sadly not in love with it. I do however LOVE the other item I was gifted and am looking forward to showing you that gem! I will find the perfect thing to wear with it and make sure I post about it asap.

Please excuse how few and far between my blog posts have been and I apologise in advance for the lack of posts in the next few weeks (if you are even at all bothered haha) Tomorrow I move back to London so you can imagine how hectic things will be for me. I shall try and post as regularly as possible though!

boohoo plus launch.

So, last week was an incredibly busy week for me and it started off with a delightful afternoon at The Sanderson Hotel in London. Myself and a few other plus size bloggers had the pleasure of attending a launch event for boohoo's plus size range. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco (always a bonus) and the uber friendly boohoo girls invited us to browse the rails of clothes they had displayed beautifully for us. OH.MY.ACTUAL.GOD... they were beautiful. Proper, decent, properly decent clothes. Clothes that I want to wear, clothes that my skinnier pals would want to wear, clothes that the plus size market has been lacking. I wasn't the only one crying out in joy either, we were all saying the same thing. It was so refreshing to see.

There were boxy shapes, two piece sets, daring colours, over size tops, modern prints, up to date garment shapes, the lot! I honestly couldn't pick my favourite piece from the collection! If you take a peek online here at their current stock, you'll see a fair bit of what we saw on the day but there is more due to be released soon and I can't wait. I'm dying to get my hands on the acid wash, tie-dye jeans! The range currently runs in UK sizes 16-24 but fingers crossed, if this collection sells well, they will look into extending their sizes.

The high tea we were served and the goodies we were given were soooooo lovely. As ever, I took a million photos but below shows you a snippet of the afternoon and what I decided to wear.
